卐 [wàn]
1. Ancient Indian religious auspicious symbol. It shows golden light, and the character 卐 is on the chest of the Tathāgata Buddha. In the Tang dynasty of China, Empress Wu Zetian standardized the pronunciation as "wàn." It means "the gathering of all auspicious virtues." In Buddhist scriptures, it is also written as 卍.

2. The party emblem of the German Nazi Party. Hitler believed that the character 卐 symbolized "the mission to fight for the victory of the Aryan people"; in reality, it represented the violence and bloody terror of Hitler's regime.
