1. (Noun) Name of a plant. A perennial creeping vine from the Dioscoreaceae family, specifically the Dioscorea genus. The stem reaches one meter high, is soft and jointed, resembling a vine, but is not one. The leaves are large and palmate, producing small white flowers. Its root is brown on the outside and yellowish-red on the inside. It is used to treat symptoms such as painful swellings, ulcers, and bites from snakes and dogs.
