齌 (jì) 1. [Adjective] Intense anger; violent rage, as in "Zhuan did not perceive my inner feelings, yet he believed the slander and became furious." 2. [Verb] To cook rice with a fierce fire. * Verb usage: To hasten, to cook quickly with a fierce fire. As stated in "Shuo Wen Jie Zi, Fire Section": "齌 refers to cooking hastily." In the notes by Duan Yucai from the Qing Dynasty: "餔 refers to the meal taken at the time of the day called 'Shen.' When dinner is feared to be late, one cooks quickly; hence the character includes 'fire.'" 3. [Adverb] Swiftly; rapidly. As seen in the work "Li Sao" by Qu Yuan in "Chuci": "Zhuan did not perceive my inner feelings, yet he believed the slander and became furious." Wang Yi, in his commentary of the Han Dynasty, notes: "齌 means fast."
