偠:
1. A sound reference from "Guangyun": 烏皎切 (wū jiǎo qiē), 上篠 (shàng shào), meaning "shadow."
2. Beautiful appearance; for example, in the context of "偠紹" (shǎo shào): from "Wenxuan" by Zhang Heng in "Nandu Fu," it states: “Such adornments and charms, the beautiful appearance (偠紹) would surely be graceful.” Lü Xiang notes: “偠紹便娟 means possessing much beauty.”
3. Good appearance; for example, in the context of "偠緲" (miǎo): in Ming's He Jingming's "Seven Prose," it states: “There is a mountain… its beauty (偠緲) is like a misty vapor, akin to the blooms of lotus appearing.”
