吋 (cùn) 1. To scold; to reprimand. 2. Inch (英寸), a unit of length in the British and American systems, equal to one twelfth of a foot (this character is no longer used in mainland China, which uses "英寸" instead). Noun: A unit of measurement for length. One inch in the metric system equals ten centimeters. Also known as "公寸" (metric inch). Noun: An abbreviation for "寸口" (cùn kǒu). In traditional Chinese medicine, it refers to the pulse position located one inch from the hand. Example from "Dream of the Red Chamber" (《红楼梦》): "Looking at the pulse of the esteemed madam: the left inch is deep and forceful, the left guan is deep and stable, the right inch is thin and powerless, the right guan is empty and without spirit." Old form: 昔日的"吋"亦作 "英寸".
