屰 1. Same as "逆" (nì): Meaning: To face or meet, to welcome. Example: In the Northeast, "逆" is used, while in the Southwest, "迎" is used. — From "Shuōwén Jiězì" (说文解字). 2. Same as "戟" (jǐ): Ancient weapon type. 3. Phonetic-ideographic: Composed of "戈" (gē, a type of spear) and "榦" (gàn, trunk of a tree) simplified. Meaning: Ancient weapon, made of bronze, combining spear and halberd into one, capable of thrusting and slashing. Example: This type of weapon appeared in the Shang and Zhou dynasties and became popular in the Warring States, Han, and Jin dynasties. The "戟" is a bifurcated weapon with branches. The current character is mistakenly written as "戟." — From "Shuōwén Jiězì." 4. Same as "霸" (bà): Meaning: The moon beginning to rise.
