敗 (bài)
1. To lose, to suffer defeat, to be unsuccessful; opposite of "勝 (shèng)."
Examples: 敗北 (to lose a battle), 敗退 (to retreat after defeat), 敗績 (1. a regiment's defeat; 2. failure in one's endeavors), 敗訴 (to lose a lawsuit), 敗筆 (a poor writing), 敗局 (a defeated situation), 兩敗俱傷 (both sides suffer losses).
2. To defeat, to make someone fail.
Example: 大敗敵軍 (to greatly defeat the enemy forces).
3. To destroy or ruin.
Examples: 毀壞 (to ruin), 敗露 (to be exposed and ruined).
4. To relieve or disperse.

5. Old and worn out, decrepit, or decayed.
