畂
1. Anciently the same as "亩" (mu, a unit of area).
2. A unit of area in China, abbreviated from "市亩" (shimu, a market mu). Example from "Mengzi · Liang Hui Wang Shang": "For a residence of five mu, planting mulberries, fifty can be clothed in silk."
3. The high ground in a field. Example from "Shijing · Xiao Ya · Xin Nan Shan": "I demarcate my boundary, the south east of its mu."
4. A main road centered around the capital in ancient times.
5. Generally refers to farmland, fields.
6. Communicates with "母" (mu), meaning root; source. Example from "Shuowen Jiezi · Yi Bu": "亩 is borrowed for 母."
