祫 [xiá]
1. In ancient times, the emperor or feudal lords would gather the tablets of ancestors from near and far in the ancestral temple to conduct sacrificial offerings.
- An ancient sacrificial ritual of the emperor and feudal lords, involving a grand gathering of the ancestral tablets at the main ancestral temple for a unified sacrifice. This would occur once after three years of mourning, again the following year, and thereafter every five years.
