纣 1. The posthumous name of the last ruler of the Shang Dynasty, also known as "Shou" or "Di Xin". 2. The leather belt at the back of a chariot horse. 3. A homophone for "牖 (yǒu)", meaning window. (通“牖(yǒu)”。 Notes: 1. In "Records of the Grand Historian", it mentions: "When Emperor Yi died, his son Xin ascended the throne, hence called Di Xin; he was referred to as 纣 (Zhòu) by the world." 2. "In the Book of Dialects, it states: 'Chariot 纣, from Guan to the east is called 'Wu', or 'Qu Tan' or 'Qu Lun'; from Guan to the west is called 纣 (Zhòu).'" 3. In "Explaining Texts", it states that 纣 can be borrowed to mean 窗 (window), as they share a rhyming structure.
