Definition of 「諸」:
1. Numerous, various. Examples: "諸事" (various matters), "諸子百家" (various schools of thought), "諸善男子,善女人" (all good men and women).
2. All, everything. Example: In the "Book of the Later Han, Volume 3, Biographies of Emperor Xu of the Han Dynasty": "All those previously incarcerated for wickedness shall be entirely released, to clarify the path of absolution." In the "History of the Ming Dynasty, Volume 2, Annals of the Taizu": "All who had suffered turmoil and become slaves shall be restored to the status of commoners."
3. A phonetic combination of "之" (pronoun) and "於" (preposition). Example: "付諸行動" (to put into action). In "The Analects, Book of Wei Ling Gong": "Zi Zhang wrote it to Sir Shen."
4. A phonetic combination of "之" (pronoun) and "乎" (particle). Example: In "The Analects, Book of Zi Han": "If there is a beautiful jade here, should it be stored away? Seek a good dealer and sell it?"
5. "於" (to, in, at). Example: In "The Book of Rites, Rituals": "Therefore, a gentleman aligns with the way of heaven, performing the spring sacrifices and autumn harvests."
6. "He", "it". Example: In "The Analects, Book of Learning": "Inform about the past and understand the future."
7. A surname. For example, during the Ming Dynasty, there was a figure named Zhu Maoqing.
