鮣 [yìn] Noun 1. Referring to a type of fish (remora) that has a lengthened cylindrical body, a big mouth, fine scales, and a flattened head. It features a long oval-shaped suction cup with cartilaginous folds on the top of its head, commonly attaching itself to large fish or the hulls of boats. 2. Any of several highly specialized species within the genus Echeneis and other related families (Order: Echeneiformes); the anterior dorsal fin has evolved into a disk-shaped suction cup made of stacked horizontal laminae, allowing it to securely attach to sharks and other large fish.
