鲀
Glossary: 鲀 (Tún)
1. A general term for fish in the order Tetraodontiformes. They live in the sea, with a few species entering freshwater. They have a rounded head and a small mouth. There are many types, such as "three-spined toadfish," "scad," and "pufferfish." Generally, their blood and internal organs are highly toxic.
2. A type of fish also known as river pufferfish or globe fish (English: globefish; tetraodont). It has a rounded body, a flattened head, and tapers towards the tail. The back is dark grey with prominent black spots, while the belly is white and has no scales. Larger individuals can grow to about two feet in length. They spawn in April and May, during which the ovaries and liver contain potent toxins. They are commonly found near the sea.
