鲈 (lú) 1. 【名】〔～鱼〕 A type of fish with a flattened body, large mouth, and fine scales. Its back is grayish-green and its belly is white, with black spots on the sides and dorsal fin. It lives in coastal waters and spawns at river mouths in late autumn. It is a commonly consumed fish. 2. (鱸) Another term for the same fish. Examples: - 鲈鱼脍 (lú yú kuài): refers to the sliced fish meat of the bass. - 鲈豸 (lú zhì): another name for the bass. - 鲈乡 (lú xiāng): a place where bass are produced. - 鲈鲤 (lú lǐ): an alternate name for the freshwater species, the black bass.
