鳜 guì 名 1. Mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi), a delicious edible fish produced in China. Commonly known as "flower crucian carp" or "桂鱼" (Gui fish). It belongs to the family of perch. The fish is laterally compressed, colored in bluish-yellow or olive-brown, with many irregular dark brown or black spots. It has a raised back, a large mouth, and a protruding lower jaw. It has one dorsal fin, and its scales are small and round. This fish is aggressive and preys on other fish and shrimp in the water. 2. Also refer to 鱖 (jué).
