Its directional position is central, and it is paired with the Earthly Branches for the purposes of marking years or days. 例: 如:周共和九年为戊辰年 Example: For instance, the ninth year of the Zhou Dynasty was a Wuchan year. 3. 古代以十干配五方,戊居十干中,因以指中央。 [En.] In ancient times, the ten stems were matched with the five directions, and Wu is positioned in the ten stems, thus referring to the center. 引: 1 《汉书》:五六者,天地之中合。 Reference: 1 "Han Shu": The five and six are the union of heaven and earth. 4. 指代土。 [En.] Represents earth. 例: 如:戊己(指一旬中的戊日和己日;古以十干配五方,戊己属中央,于五行属土,因以戊己代称土);戊方(戊己之日) Example: For example, Wujiy refers to the Wudi and Jidi days in a ten-day week; it indicates the days that belong to the center and are associated with earth in the five elements, thus Wujiy is used as a term for earth; Wufang refers to the days of Wujiy.
