碴 [chá] 1. (Noun) a. Small fragments or pieces, such as "ice fragments" (冰碴) and "glass fragments" (玻璃碴). b. The chipped edge of a container, for example, "bowl chip" (碗碴子). c. A point of contention or disagreement, often causing disputes, as in "he always looks for a point of contention" (他总想找碴). d. Refers to something mentioned before or a statement that was just made, as in "context" (话碴), or "continuation" (接碴). 2. (Noun) Broken pieces that can cut into skin. Example: "My hand was cut by a shard of glass" (手让玻璃碴破了). 碴 [chá] 1. (Verb) a. To be cut by sharp fragments such as glass or pottery; to be injured. Example: "Be careful not to cut your hand on the glass" (小心别让碎玻璃碴了手). 碴 [chā] 1. (Noun) a. Short hairs left after shaving or regrowth; the appearance of a stubbly beard (胡子拉碴). 2.
