A perennial herbaceous plant with long rhizomes. The young leaves are edible, the rhizomes can be processed into starch, and its fibers can be made into ropes and cables, making them water-resistant. The entire plant has medicinal properties. 引: 1. According to "Shuowen Jiezi": 蕨 refers to the turtle, with its phonetic component being 厥, and the radical indicating it is a plant. 2. The initial growth resembles garlic shoots, with no leaves, and the tip resembles a turtle's foot, hence the name. It also resembles a child's fist, which is why it is called "拳菜" (fist vegetable), with a purple-black color. 3. In "Qimin Yaoshu": 蕨 refers to mountain vegetables. During the Zhou and Qin dynasties, it was called 蕨, while in Qi and Lu, it was referred to as 鳖.
