A sound made while bowing as a sign of respect in ancient times (English: hi). 引例: 1. From "老学庵笔记" by Lu You during the Song Dynasty: "先君言,旧制,朝参,拜舞而已。政和以后,增以喏。然绍兴中,予造朝,已不复喏矣。" (The former monarch said that the old rule during court meetings was just to bow and dance. After Zhenghe, it was added to include "喏." However, during the Shaoxing period, I did not do so anymore.) 2. See also nuò. 古代表示敬意的呼喊: 1. A cry signifying respect in ancient times.
