Definition of 「耂」: 1. Same as “老” (old). Used as a radical component. 同“老”。用于偏旁部首。 2. Advanced in age; contrasted with “幼” (young) or “少” (few). Example from the Book of Songs: "I rejoice that I am not old, but am just beginning." 年岁大。与“幼”或“少”相对。《诗经·小雅·北山》:“嘉我未老,鲜我方将。” 3. Existing for a long time; long-lasting (contrasted with “新” (new)). Example from the Zuo Zhuan: "The teacher has expended resources." Du Yu’s note: "The teacher has been old for a long time." 很久以前就存在的;历时长久的(与“新”相对)。《左传·僖公三十三年》:“老师费财。”杜预注:“师久为老。” 4. Tired; fatigued.
