2. Noun: A type of clothing that is double-layered without padding.

Example from Song Dynasty poet Wen Tong’s poem "Arriving Late at the Village": "Old hems flutter in the wind as I go to pick mulberries, while the white 袷 rolls up with the water, bringing back the rice seedlings."
3. Noun: An ancient type of cross-stitched collar.
It is not very clearly defined, but numerous artifacts from the Warring States period, including bronze and wooden statues, show collars that cross and fold down, which may refer to 袷.
