鹦 (yīng)
1. Bird name, parrot. Commonly referred to as "鹦哥" (yīnggē) [En. parrot]. The bird has a large hook-shaped upper beak and a small lower beak, with feathers in various colors. It is found in tropical and subtropical regions and can imitate human speech, as in the phrase “鹦鹉学舌” (yīngwǔ xué shé), which has a derogatory connotation.
