- 书、画、纸等的张、页。后作“葉”。
- In the Shuowen Jiezi: "䈎, refers to a bamboo slip." Duan Yucai's note: "What children write, each sheet is called one leaf. Now, a piece of writing on paper is called one page. Sometimes written as '葉', but should actually be this '䈎'."
- 《説文•竹部》：“䈎，籥也。”
