媧 wā 名 1. Goddess in ancient mythology. She is depicted as a female emperor and is known for repairing the heavens with five-colored stones. [En.] name of a goddess. In ancient mythology, she is referred to as Nüwa, a female emperor. 2. Surname. 引 1. "Shuowen Jiezi": Nüwa, the sacred woman of ancient times who transformed all things. It is composed of the character for woman and a sound ("wa").
