1. To set up an altar to worship various gods. In "Records of the Grand Historian · Volume 12 · Chronology of Emperor Wu," it is stated: "The earth below is to be the site for the offerings to many gods and the North Star." In the Tang dynasty, Zhang Shoujie commented: "Liu Bozhuang said: 'It refers to the arrangement of various gods' sacrificial seats around the altar.'"
2. To pour wine on the ground during rituals. It can also refer to sacrifices. In "The Family Instructions of Yan," Yan Zhitui mentions: "Friends or relatives who come to pour offerings, I will all refuse."
3. To drink or consume. In "Annals of the Former Han · Volume 8 · Records of Emperor Gao," it states: "Every time I drink, my mind has never been absent from the great deer region." This is interchangeable with "啜."
