瘦 [shòu]
1. (adjective) Thin; skinny; slender. It is opposite to "胖" (pàng, fat) and "肥" (fé, obese). This refers to having less fat in the body and not having full muscles.
Example: 瘦弱 (shòu ruò) - thin and weak; 瘦小 (shòu xiǎo) - thin and small; 瘦削 (shòu xuē) - thin and sharp; 瘦俏 (shòu qiào) - slim and attractive; 瘦长 (shòu cháng) - slender and long; 瘦瘪 (shòu biě) - thin and emaciated; 消瘦 (xiāo shòu) - losing weight; 清瘦 (qīng shòu) - appearing thin; 瘦骨嶙峋 (shòu gǔ lín xún) - bony and thin.
2. (adjective) Tight; small, referring to clothes, shoes, or socks.
Example: 这条裤子太瘦了 (zhè tiáo kùzi tài shòu le) - these pants are too tight.
3. (adjective) Tight and not robust.
Example: 字小而瘦 (zì xiǎo ér shòu) - the characters are small and fine.
4. (adjective) (land) Not fertile; poor quality.
Example: 瘦瘠 (shòu jí) - barren and impoverished land.
5. (adjective) Steep; sharp.
Example: 书贵瘦硬 (shū guì shòu yìng) - the writing is thin and rigid; 水清石瘦 (shuǐ qīng shí shòu) - the water is clear, and the stones are sharp.
