A device used to control the direction of a boat, airplane, etc. - Example: 控制方向的装置: 升降舵 (elevator), 方向舵 (directional rudder), 舵轮 (steering wheel of a ship or car), 舵手 (helmsman), 舵位 (rudder position), 舵盘 (rudder disk), 掌舵 (to take the helm), 见风使舵 (to act according to the circumstances). 2. The original function refers to a device at the stern of a ship used to control its direction; same as the first definition. It can also be referred to as 柁, 杕. - English: helm; rudder. - Example: 把舵 (to steer the ship). 3. Also refers to the movable auxiliary wings, which are equipped with flaps, attached to the tail of an airplane, designed to control its horizontal direction during flight.
