【本义】: 水鸟鹬
1. A type of bird with brown feathers, long beak, and long legs, having no webbing between the toes, commonly found near water or in fields, where it catches small fish, insects, and shellfish.
2. Common term for many species in the family Scolopacidae (tattlers). This refers to various hunting birds of the genus Capella, resembling the upland sandpiper but smaller, featuring very long beaks used for probing mud in search of worms and other food. The upper body is usually mottled dark brown; the underparts are yellowish and chestnut, with striping on the tail and sides.
