The part of the body located in front, below the neck, and above the abdomen; metaphorically refers to the heart or inner feelings. 1. 身体前面颈下腹上的部分,借指心里。 例:胸脯 (chest); 胸膛 (chest); 胸腔 (chest cavity); 胸口 (chest area); 胸骨 (sternum); 胸椎 (thoracic vertebrae); 胸膜 (pleura); 胸怀 (ambition, capacity); 胸襟 (same as "胸怀"); 胸无点墨 (indicates very little reading and extremely low cultural level); 直抒胸臆 (express one's inner thoughts directly); 胸中有数 (to have a clear understanding). 2. Inner feelings; emotions. 2. 内心;心里。 例:胸衾 (inner feelings; conscience); 胸藏锦绣 (metaphor for having talents and knowledge); 胸藏翰墨 (metaphor for having extensive knowledge); 胸中大有丘壑 (metaphor for deep thoughts; can also be expressed as "胸中有了丘壑"). 3.
