Onomatopoeia, describing the sound of friction or turning: "两扇大门~的一声打开了。" (The two large doors opened with a creak.) 呀 [yā] 1. Interjection for expressing surprise: "呀,下雪了。" (Oh, it's snowing.) 2. Onomatopoeia, describing squeaky sounds: "门呀的一声响了。" (The door let out a squeak.) 呀 [yā] 1. Particles indicating questions, exclamations, imperatives, etc.: "别见怪~!你快回去~!你怎么不回家~!"
