稻 [dào] 名 【本义】: 水稻 1. A one-year herbaceous plant, the seeds referred to as "rice grains," and after husked called "white rice." There is a distinction between irrigated rice and dry rice, usually referring to irrigated rice: rice grains, rice straw, and white rice (also known as "white rice"). 2. A type of one-year herbaceous plant widely cultivated in warm climates, its seeds serve as a staple food for humans. The husks and other by-products can feed livestock, and rice straw is used for paper making. There are two types: irrigated rice and dry rice, with irrigated rice usually implied. The seeds are called "grains," and after milling and husking, they are called "white rice." Variants include glutinous rice, japonica rice, and indica rice. In ancient times, sticky rice was classified as rice, while non-sticky rice was classified as japonica. 引 1. From "Zhou Li: Zhi Fang Shi": "The grains should be rice." 2. From "Shi: Xiao Ya: Bai Hua": "Soaking in the rice fields."
